CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today information has emerged about an outbreak of cholera among military and civilian populations in the part of the Kherson region controlled by Ukraine. RIA News, with reference to the pro-Russian underground, reported that about 100 people are already in medical institutions, while at least 12 have died. It is noted that acute diarrheal infection has mainly been identified in military personnel, but there are already cases of infection in civilians.
Rospotrebnadzor declared its readiness to respond to epidemic risks and made a request to the World Health Organization (WHO).
In connection with the aggravation of the cholera situation in the world, in March-April Rospotrebnadzor took all necessary measures to prevent the risk of the spread of cholera in the Russian Federation in accordance with sanitary rules and the Resolution of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation.
In connection with media reports about a recorded outbreak of cholera in the Kherson region, controlled by Kyiv, Rospotrebnadzor reports a stable situation in the country and readiness to identify and respond. Rospotrebnadzor sent an urgent request to the WHO European Office to confirm the information. Control over the sanitary and epidemiological situation in border areas has been strengthened. The situation is under strict control of Rospotrebnadzor— it says on the department’s website.
The Kherson region is located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper River, north of Crimea. 75% of the region’s territory is under Russian control. The right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson, is held by Ukrainian troops.
