Artek residents joined the All-Russian campaign “We know. We love. We support” in support of the Russian team at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing. The participants of the shift “Navigators of the book seas” drew bright pictures and conveyed good wishes to everyone who is now defending the honor of the country in China. Also, in gratitude to the athletes, Artek organized a flash mob. Children and counselors on the iconic playgrounds of the children’s center lined up in a huge living inscription «Artek is proud!». To show our athletes that the whole country believes in them and greets every medal with glee, Artek residents took part in the “We Know. We love. We support.» The action is organized by the Ministry of Sports of Russia and supported by the Ministry of Education of Russia.

“I admire you!”, “Thank you for the motivation to move forward!”, “Artek” is with you!” – these are the messages the children put into their drawings. Creative works were dedicated to everyone who defends the honor of the country at the Olympics in China. And especially to athletes who have already won medals in the treasury of the national team. Skiers Alexander Bolshunov, Natalya Nepryaeva and Denis Spitsov, freestyler Anastasia Smirnova, luger Tatyana Ivanova, freestyler Ilya Burov, teams of biathletes, skaters, figure skaters are examples of fortitude, stamina, will to win and professionalism, Artek believes. The guys call Russian athletes their heroes and promise to look up to them in all aspirations.
Artek residents warmly support their peers, unique figure skaters Anna Shcherbakova, Alexandra Trusova and Kamila Valieva, who have shown incredible talent and fortitude in competitions. The guys wish them Olympic endurance, faith in themselves and in sports, new awards.

The tradition of supporting Olympians appeared in Artek in 1956 the year when the Olympics were held in Melbourne. Then the young fans united in the club «Olympia» and sent a telegram to the athletes of the XVI Olympic Games. Since then, Artek residents have been supporting Russian athletes in all important international competitions: organizing fan zones, launching flash mobs, sending video messages, letters and postcards.
