As you know, on March 22, 2024, a terrorist attack occurred in the Crocus City Hall shopping center in the Moscow region with a large number of victims. MDC «Artek» shares the grief with the entire country and expresses its deepest sorrow. On March 24, the day of national mourning, children from 89 regions of Russia, including members of the First Movement, and Artek employees gathered near the stele of the International Children’s Center and lit 3,000 candles, creating a fiery picture.

March 24 was declared a day of national mourning by the President of the Russian Federation. In memory of all the victims of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, flags were lowered at half-mast at each bonfire area of ​​the children’s center, and near the Artek stele, employees posted the words “Crocus”, “we mourn”, as well as the date and time of the tragedy. During the evening, Artek residents came to the stele and placed candle lamps along the contour, and then lit 3,000 candles, creating a fiery picture.

During these two days, each of us, each family and the entire country felt pain and loss. Almost 140 dead so far, including children. We all need to unite. Today every Artek resident is mourning, our whole country is in mourning. But tomorrow, adults will go to work, children will go to school, and every day we will all bring closer the complete defeat of terrorism in our country. Thank you for the fact that now we can pay tribute to the memory of the fallen together.— Konstantin Fedorenko, director of the Artek International Center, addressed the Artek residents.
