Artem Cherpita and Liya Rozhkova from Sevastopol are the winners of the first winter regatta of 2022 «Winter Starts»

In Sochi, from 5 to 12 January, the first in 420 year All-Russian sailing competitions were held sports «Winter Starts», in which more than 12 athletes from all over Russia took part, reports branch of the FAA of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation CSKA (Sevastopol).

The races were held in the classes of yachts «Optimist», «Cadet», «Zoom 8», «Laser Standard», «Laser Radial», «Laser 4.7», «420”, “29th”, “Nakra 15 — mixed», «29», «Ray», «Ray-radial» and «Ray-mini» among boys and girls, as well as younger boys and girls.

The class «Optimist» became the most numerous in terms of the number of participants — 63 young yachtsmen came to the start. The sports school of the CSKA branch (Sevastopol) was represented at the regatta by three pupils of coach Elena Kravchuk, two of whom won gold medals.

Artem Cherpita took the first place among boys in the Optimist class. The second time in this race was shown by Vsevolod Evseenko from Taganrog. The third was Ilya Krivobokov from Tolyatti.

Among the younger girls in the «Optimist» class, the Sevastopol yachtswoman Leah Rozhkova excelled. «Silver» went to Vera Garshina from Tolyatti, and «bronze» went to Daria Gud from Sochi.

The races were held mainly in light winds. We were very lucky with the weather, it only helped. There were no major cold spells. Artyom Cherpita confirmed his high level and that he is number one in the Sevastopol team in the Optimist class. A good, confident start to the season. I was very pleased with Leah Rozhkova. Among girls 2011 of the year of birth and younger, she was the first , — commented on the performance of her wards, the coach of the sports school of the branch CSKA (Sevastopol) sailing Elena Kravchuk.

Another of her pupils — Elizaveta Tubaeva — took fourth place in the «Optimist» class among girls. Places on the podium in this category were distributed as follows: first place — Ekaterina Bragina from Tolyatti, second and third — respectively Emilia Levkovskaya and Alisa Kuznets from Sochi.

Sochi is the only place in Russia where it is possible to hold sailing competitions during the winter months.
