The walk began in the western part of the settlement. The head of the excursion department of the museum-reserve, Nadezhda Goncharova, and tour guide Roman Lutsa told visitors about the founding of Tauride Chersonese, as well as about the ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods of its existence. They paid much attention to the baptism of Prince Vladimir on this territory, explaining why the city is called the “font of Russian Orthodoxy.”
The team of the first Russian professional theater from Yaroslavl came to Sevastopol as part of the federal program “Big Tours,” which is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Of course, this is not our first time in the city, but we always visit Chersonesos. We bring those who are interested in touching the history of the ancient city, the originality of the Baptism of Rus’. We are very closely following everything that happens in the museum-reserve, and we are looking forward to the opening of the grandiose historical and archaeological park! — notes People’s Artist of Russia, artistic director of the Russian Drama Theater named after Fyodor Volkov Valery Kirillov.
The guests listened attentively to the guides, asked questions and, of course, took photos against the backdrop of the museum-reserve’s attractions! They especially remembered the 1935 Basilica, the mosaic pavilion, the Winemaker’s House and the Ancient Theatre of Chersonesos — the only one in the entire Northern Black Sea region.
