CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, the central event of the “Garden of Memory” campaign took place in the Bakhchisarai region of Crimea. More than 5 thousand Crimean pine seedlings were planted on the territory of the forest fund on an area of 1.1 hectares.
This year, mass events within the framework of the campaign are dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Crimean offensive operation — the operation of Soviet troops to liberate Crimea from the troops of Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War. And it is very important for us to show our younger generation how else we can perpetuate the memory of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who fought for our peaceful future. I am sure that the trees and shrubs planted today on the Crimean fertile land will long keep with us the memory of the exploits of our heroesnoted Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea Mikhail Nazarov.
According to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea Olga Slavgorodskaya, such events not only contribute to the greening of the peninsula, but also unite generations.
It is especially important now to maintain unity. The Garden of Memory is not only an environmental initiative. The action carries a deep meaning and instills a sense of patriotism. It is very important to honor and protect the memory of the warriors who gave us a peaceful sky above our heads. It is necessary to pass on these values to the younger generationnoted the minister.
“Garden of Memory” is an international campaign whose goal is to plant 27 million trees in memory of each of the 27 million who died during the Great Patriotic War.
