Asteroid rushes to the ground. Can he face the planet?

Asteroid 2024 YR4 is open in December. Its diameter is from 40 to 100 meters and these dimensions are similar to those that called the Tunguska event in 1908. That is, if the collision occurs, it will cause local destruction.

According to the scientist, the collision may occur in 2032 with a probability of about 1% — this indicator is considered quite high, so the Astro is assigned the third level of danger on the Turin scale and now the astronomers will monitor its movement.

There is no reason to worry yet, but the situation requires constant monitoring. Since its further advancement and trajectory will give an answer to the question of what will actually happen in 2032. All earthly resources should now observe and do an analysis of everything that will happen to him in orbit, — says the scientist.

At the same time, according to him, ways to take an asteroid from the Earth, changing its orbit, exist. So far they have not been used, but several of them have long been developed.

We have already learned. Including the Crimean observatory studied the possibilities of planting spacecraft on comets, asteroids. However, he himself can still change his orbit. Although it cannot be ruled out that in some next month or next year there will not be some kind of potentially dangerous body. The head of the Federal Astronomical Program of Space, Kirill Lazorenko, previously reported on the approach of another potential dangerous Asteroid «Apophis»who will fly in four years at a distance where geostationary satellites fly. Apophis is ten times more than the famous Chebarkul meteorite, which fell in Chelyabinsk in 2013. According to the calculations of scientists, it will approach the Earth as close as possible on April 13, 2029, and if it falls, the consequences will be disastrous.
