From 19 to 23 April in Haifa, Israel, the main European SAMBO competitions of the year were held — the championship (men and women) and the combined championship (juniors and juniors under 20, boys and girls 16-18 and 14-16 years old).
The Russian national team confidently excelled in the team standings, having won 69 medals (60 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze)! Our compatriots also contributed to the success of the Russian team. Sevastopol Anton Brachev became the bronze medalist of the European Championship in weight over 98 kg. In addition, as part of the selection for the World Martial Arts Games, which will be held in October this year in Saudi Arabia, Anton Brachev won in the open weight category. In junior competitions up to 20 years old Simferopol Ruslan Somemenko climbed to the highest step of the podium in weight up to 88 kg. In the junior tournament up to 20 years in the category up to 50 kg, there was no equal Anna Murashkina from Kerch— reports «Crimean sport».
In total, 479 athletes from 23 countries took part in the championship and the combined European championship. Due to sanctions, the Russian team had to compete at these competitions under the flag and anthem of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS).
