At the Sevastopol Memorial Bratsk cemetery, the remains of 158 warriors reburied
Krympress reports:
In Sevastopol, the remains of the defenders and liberators of the city were reburied. The solemn ceremony traditionally took place at the memorial fraternal cemetery of the Great Patriotic War on Dergachi.
The event was attended by Governor Mikhail Podvozhaev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Germans, Senator Ekaterina Altabaeva, Dean of the Central Church District of Sevastopol Archpriest Sergiy Khalyuta, Chairman of the Sevastopol Association of Search Organizations Marina Gavrilenko, employees of search units, schoolchildren, veterans, military personnel.
Every year we meet to honor the memory of the fighters who gave their lives, protecting the Fatherland. Marina Nikolaevna and her colleagues-search engines work for a year to return the names of those who defended Sevastopol, defended our homeland. Today, 158 people returned from the war. Of these, only five names managed to establish, but this is a tremendous work. This seems incredible: for so many years, soldiers were considered missing, and now they finally found peace. For relatives and friends, this is a miracle: to learn about their dead fighters. And this also suggests that historical memory is the most valuable thing that is. Our president said correctly: memory unites cities, regions, countries. We are once again convinced that our grandfathers and great -grandfathers from different republics of the Soviet Union, shoulder to shoulder, defended our common homeland— said the head of the city.
The search engines managed to establish partially or completely the following names:
— Red Army Popov (name, patronymic is not known, the surname is set by the inscription on the belt);
— Red Armyman Gavrilov A.N. (name, patronymic is not known, the surname and initials are set by the inscription on the flask);
— Fighter Vatsadze Ivan Nikolaevich (the found soldier’s medallion, sealed with a silk thread, helped to maintain data on the fighter: the Georgian SSR, the Sagaedzhinsky district, the village of Udzharma, born in 1906. Before the war, Ivan Nikolaevich worked at a factory producing planes, had a reservation. In 1941 he went to the front, defended Sevastopol in the front. The composition of the 388th Infantry Division was considered missing.
— Sergeant Semenov Vladimir Markovich (along with the remains of the fighter, the medal “For Courage” was discovered, the name of the defender of Sevastopol was found by the medal number; the year of birth was 1917, called out of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, defending the Sevastopol. The search for relatives continues);
— Sergeant Klykov Alexander Vasilievich (the remains were found in the Kamyshlovsky ravine. Fragments of the Red Army Book were preserved, a year of birth was established — 1905, a native of the Novosibirsk region).
Thanks to the work of the search engines, the heroes return to a single system and remain in the pantheons of glory and in the memory of the people, Vladimir Germans said in his speech.
We remember how expensive our people got this victory in that terrible war. And, of course, we remember and sacredly honor our heroes who gave their lives for our homeland, for our peaceful future. We honor the memory of the heroic feat of our people and convey this memory to the younger generation— notes the speaker of the city parliament.
Ekaterina Altabaeva turned to young people — children who were present at a mourning rally.
I really want to turn to the guys who are today at our memorial event. If you know the story of your family, you know which of your ancestors fought in the Great Patriotic War, worked in the rear — know that this is our common history, this is the history of our Fatherland. We know for sure how the history of our country actually developed. And no one will be able to distort it— said the senator.
The work of search units will certainly be continued, Marina Gavrilenko emphasized.
We are united by one thing: we remember. Today it is so necessary — to remember and know your story. And our story is amazing. We generally have an amazing city — even our Victory Day is double. Today we will give the last tribute to those we found. But they are not the last. A lot of soldiers still lie at the borders of Sevastopol, and search units will continue their work— she said.
Sergius Khalyuta served a memorial lithium about all the fallen, and then turned to those present:
In truth, we find these people, in truth we betray them to the Earth. Their names know the Lord. We know only a few names of warriors who have found eternal peace today. But God knows the name of each of these warriors.
Relatives of the deceased Sergeant Alexander Klykov arrived at the ceremony from Rostov-on-Don: his grandson is retired colonel Sergei Polshinsky and his granddaughter Kabanova. Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev handed them the personal belongings of a fighter.
