Attention! Fire season begins in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

According to resolutioncity government in Sevastopol today — April 3 — the beginning of the fire season has been announced. It will last until the onset of stable cold and rainy weather.

The fire season is the period of the year from the moment the snow cover melts (in our region, its onset usually coincides with abundant spring flowering and is associated with an increase in the average daily temperature, a decrease in precipitation) until cool, rainy weather sets in. It is the spring-summer period that is characterized by increased risks of fires in open natural areas.

There is no ban on visiting the forests for citizens yet — it will not be introduced until the onset of hot, dry weather, which will require tougher fire prevention measures. However, even now, preference should be given to places that are specially equipped for outdoor recreation, and fire safety requirements must be strictly observed.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol during the entire fire season will carry out a number of preventive measures — including raid work, which involves monitoring compliance with the rules for handling fire and fire prevention measures, explanatory conversations with the population, distribution of thematic leaflets, leaflets, promotion of safety culture through the mass media, as well as through other means of broadcasting and notification. Leskhoz employees will establish control over the implementation of forest improvement activities — this is the installation of barriers, the installation and cleaning of fire-prevention mineralized strips, the organization of places for people to rest in the forest, and supervision of such territories.

For violation of fire safety requirements, the legislation of the Russian Federation provides for both administrative and criminal liability (if appropriate consequences occur).

Administrative responsibility for citizens varies from 2,000 to 4,000 rubles. For such violations in the forests — from 1,500 to 5,000 rubles. At the same time, fines for legal entities reach half a million rubles.

In the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, liability for the destruction or damage of forest plantations is provided for in Article 261, which has a wide range of sanctions, including fines that depend on the amount of damage and range from 200,000 rubles to 3,000,000, or the above act threatens with imprisonment for term from 3 to 10 years.

To avoid penalties from the supervisory authorities, follow the fire safety requirements!

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol recommends:

  • do not throw burning matches and smoldering cigarette butts on the ground;
  • do not make fires and do not burn garbage in the forest;
  • do not leave rubbish in the forest, especially cleaning cloth soaked in oil, gasoline or other combustible material, glass bottles and glass fragments — they can act as lenses, causing a fire;
  • instill in children knowledge about fire safety rules, talk about the dangers of playing with fire;
  • if you notice flashes of fire or smoke in an open area, take all possible measures to extinguish the fire: knock down the flame with dense green branches, try to trample it, throw it in the ground, fill it with water.

If it is not possible to cope with the fire on your own immediately call the EMERCOM of Russia at the number «101»!
