The church now honors the memory of St. Macrida (Macrina of the Cappadocian), which is also known as the sister of Vasily the Great. She lived in the 4th century. In her youth, Macrida vowed celibacy and virginity, after which she accepted monasticism with her mother, Rev. Emilia. After that, both women took a direct part in the process of building a monastery on the banks of the Irisa River, where people who wanted to devote themselves to serving God began to come much later. The reverend Macrida herself spent time in prayers and good deeds. The legend says that her chastity was so great that even in illness she was never exposed to the doctor. Instead, in case of ailments, she prayed the Lord for recovery. Once during a serious illness, it was prayer that helped Macrida to defeat her. Moreover, the saint not only recovered, but also received the gift of miracles as a reward from the Lord.
