Automation of processes and increased salaries: Crimean enterprises solve the issue of personnel shortages

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In conditions of increased production capacity utilization, which in Russia reached historical highs by the end of 2023, tensions in the labor market are growing. To overcome the personnel shortage, enterprises in the Republic of Crimea use different strategies: they train students to work in production, automate processes and increase salaries. To solve the personnel problem, several programs are being implemented on the basis of one of the leading Crimean enterprises. Thus, a department for students of one of the Crimean universities began operating. The project will allow future engineers to undergo a three-month paid internship in production, and the company will receive potentially qualified employees — today, in the face of an increase in the number of orders, the company’s employees work in three shifts.

In addition, the company annually acquires new equipment and automates production. Last year, the plant invested 260 million rubles in updating its machine park, part of which was government subsidies. Investments in production, robotization and the use of high-precision imported equipment allow the plant to increase labor productivity and reduce dependence on labor. Thus, last year production tripled compared to 2022.

Optimization of business processes and modernization of production lines contribute to increased labor productivity and partially reduce the severity of the problem of staff shortages. According to a rapid survey by the Bank of Russia, organizations expect labor productivity growth by 3.2% in 2024.
