This day recalls the great event that determined the fate of our Motherland, laid the foundations of our faith and culture.

For Sevastopol, this holiday is filled with special meaning. After all, it was here, on the ancient land of Chersonesus, that Prince Vladimir accepted Baptism. That is why you experience such a thrill every time you come to the service in the Holy-Vladimir Cathedral in Khersones or walk along the New Chersonesos museum and guard complex. You feel: this is a holy place. Here is the cradle of our faith.

Sevastopol still keeps this ancient memory. On July 28, there is now a double holiday in Sevastopol: it is also the birthday of «New Chersonesos». It opened exactly a year ago and became a new point of attraction — to see it, they come to us from all over Russia, from other countries!

Russia, Sevastopol has a colossal cultural and historical heritage. Our task is to protect him, to live according to the covenants of good and mercy, who came to Rus’ with Orthodoxy.
