Being “halfway” honest is no longer honest. A story from Alushta about other people's money and documents

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Alushta police received a report from a 40-year-old local resident about the disappearance of a wallet with money and bank cards at one of the city’s gas stations. The woman clarified that after refueling the car, she forgot her wallet on the roof of the car, and discovered the loss only at home.

As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Alushta managed to identify the suspect, who turned out to be a previously unconvicted 46-year-old resident of the city of Alushta. On the same day, the information was transferred to the State Traffic Inspectorate, who stopped the man’s car in the city and took the citizen to the police department to give an explanation.— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

The attacker admitted to his crime and said that he had found a wallet on the road near a gas station. And then he acted “as if honestly” — he decided to return the documents, but not the money.

Having taken money in the amount of more than 11 thousand rubles from the wallet, he asked his friend to place an advertisement in driver’s chats about the search for the owner of the wallet. Spent other people’s money for personal needs. The suspect repented of his crime and compensated the victim for material damage in full,” the police clarified.

The purse was seized by the police and returned to the applicant. But a not entirely honest citizen will answer under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison. In the meantime, the suspect has been chosen as a preventive measure — a written undertaking not to leave the place.
