Bibliographer of Chersonese Tauride took part in the All-Russian conference in Simferopol

The forum was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Rare Books Department of the Scientific Library of the KFU named after V. I. Vernadsky. Participating in it, in addition to the staff of the library of the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve, were specialists from the Presidential Library named after B. N. Yeltsin, the Scientific Library of the Far Eastern Federal University, the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia, the Scientific Library of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, the Scientific Library » Taurica» named after A.H. Steven of the Central Museum of Taurida and others.
At the conference, 20 reports were made on the problems of preserving and using book collections. The participants also exchanged experiences on digitizing rare books.
Marina Ivanovna Vaabel told her colleagues about the formation of collections of rare books in the collections of the scientific library of the Chersonese Tauride Museum-Reserve. The report examined the history of the institution and the work of employees in studying the collection of rare and valuable books.
Much attention was paid to publications that have signs of book monuments, the personal libraries of the museum’s founder K.K. Kostsyushko-Valyuzhinich, his assistant and colleague M.I. Skubetov, as well as the famous Byzantine academician F.I. Uspensky.
It was also said about the collection of publications with book marks (ex libris and stamps) located in the library of Tauride Chersonesus. Currently it has more than 100 copies. Mention is made of a collection of rare books that previously belonged to the Maritime Library of Sevastopol and came to Chersonesos before the Great Patriotic War. All these collections constitute the most valuable part of the scientific library of the museum-reserve.
The report aroused great interest among colleagues, some of them intend to use its materials in their research work.
