“Big Water” in Sevastopol: villages are flooded, the third waterworks are disconnected

The city remains without water supply until evening.
Heavy rainfall led to floods in the vicinity of Sevastopol. Villages and roads are flooded. An operational headquarters has been established in the city. The information so far is disappointing.
On roads such as Yalta — Sevastopol, in the area of Toropova Dacha, Goncharnoye — Yalta, Peredovoe — Shirokoe, Tylovoe — Orlinoe, Orlinoe — Golubinka — Shirokoe, overflows of water and rubble removal are observed. Entry is limited on one of the two approaches to Ozernoye.
Many ponds and reservoirs are at maximum capacity. Work has been organized to strengthen the hydraulic structure complex of the Toropova Dacha pond. The rescue service of Sevastopol, the Sevastopol Highway, the directorate of protected areas and forestry organized the cleaning of the riverbeds of the Belbek, Kacha, Balaklavka rivers, and bridge crossings— said the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev.
The entire staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Sevastopol Rescue Service worked in flooded areas and evacuated people.
In Sevastopol, work is underway to eliminate the consequences of bad weather. Over the past evening and night, 13 millimeters of precipitation fell in the region — this is a third of the monthly norm. Households along Vorovskogo, Drygina, and Romashkovy deadlock streets were flooded. 3 houses and 11 plots have already been cleared of water, 4 people have been evacuated, including 1 child. At the moment, rescuers and utility services continue to respond, including strengthening the dam in the Toropova Dacha area. Situation under control of emergency services— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol.
The following were flooded:
- SNT «Sugarhead»: about 40 plots, 9 of them with residential buildings (there is no water in the houses).
- Chamomile dead end: 4 houses were flooded by storm water (2 houses had water)
- The village of Goncharnoye: 14 houses were flooded.
- Chernorechye village: 7 houses and several plots were flooded.
19 people were evacuated from their houses; all evacuated people from flood zones refused centralized accommodation and settled with relatives. Temporary accommodation centers are ready to receive victims,” the Sevastopol government clarified.
In the morning, due to flooding, the 18th substation was switched off. The following settlements are currently without electricity until approximately 18.00:
- Khmelnitsky,
- sugar loaf,
- Ternovka,
- Chernorechye,
- Native.
And the worst news so far.
Due to the fact that dirty water is supplied to the 3rd waterworks, a decision was made to temporarily shut down (approximately 5-6 hours) all city waterworks. During this time, we will supply the required volume of water to the third waterworks from the water intake on the Belbek River, and water supply will be restored at approximately 18:00. Please stock up on water for sanitary purposes. Water supply from hydroelectric facilities will be stopped at 12.30said Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
Today, the operational headquarters made a decision on a shortened school day in all schools in Sevastopol. Due to the temporary shutdown of waterworks and unfavorable weather conditions, children will be released from school earlier today. Kindergartens operate as usual.
