On February 20 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon in Kapsel Bay near Sudak the foundation stone ceremony for a church-chapel in the name of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious. The ceremony will be led by Bishop Platon, Metropolitan of Feodosia and Kerch.
Construction of a church-chapel in the name of St. The Great Martyr St. George the Victorious at the foot of Mount Meganom has been going on since the end of last year. After laying the foundation of the temple-chapel, according to tradition, the “rite for the foundation of the temple” is performed. On February 20 at 12 noon, Vladyka Platon (Udovenko), Metropolitan of Feodosia and Kerch, will perform the rite and bless for further construction. The investment project of the temple-chapel is carried out by the philanthropist-temple builder Alexei Kakhidze with the support of the Tavrida art cluster and the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. This kind of construction is Tavrida’s first experience in creating religious buildings. In the future, when investment proposals are received, cultural objects of other religions of Russia may appear on the territory of the art cluster, — noted in the press service of the art cluster «Tavrida.ART».
Young artists and icon painters from all over Russia are working on creating the interior decoration of the temple as part of the educational program of the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries.
