Break your piggy bank: you can exchange change in bank branches in Simferopol, Feodosia and Yalta

Crimeans will be able to exchange accumulated change at branches of commercial banks in Simferopol, Yalta and Feodosia without a commission from October 7 to October 20. These days, the “Coin Week” campaign will be held throughout the country with the support of the Bank of Russia.
In the region, branches of six banks, whose offices are located in nine addresses. Those wishing to donate change must take their passport with them and fill out an application at the bank. Coins can be exchanged for paper bills or credited to your bank account without commission. In the first case, it is not necessary to be a client of the bank where the exchange is made. There are no restrictions on the number of coins.
Today, change is not so actively used: enterprises and organizations are switching to non-cash payments, coins accumulate in people’s piggy banks. By returning metal money to circulation, we help reduce the cost of minting it,” explains Igor Tsvetkov, Head of the Bank of Russia Branch for the Republic of Crimea. – This year, such an action already took place at the end of spring: then Crimeans handed over half a ton of coins.
Banks will accept any Bank of Russia coins currently in circulation, issued since 1997, including those that are oxidized, darkened, drilled or scratched. Some banks may offer their clients souvenirs or commemorative coins — details and conditions should be clarified with the specific credit institution.
