Bulgaria refused to help Russia regarding the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge

In October 2023, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria received a message about the refusal of legal assistance on a Russian request in a criminal case regarding the bombing of a truck on the Crimean Bridge due to the fact that the execution of the request “could harm the sovereignty of Bulgaria, the supervisory authority said in a statement. — At the same time, the general opinion expressed in March 2022 at a meeting of the Council of Justice and Internal Affairs of Bulgaria was taken into account, according to which “Russia’s actions constitute such a serious violation of international law and international agreements that they justify the choice of many states not to consider the requests of Russia and Belarus on cooperation on criminal legal issues, reserving the right to resolve them in each specific case.
Previously in interview Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin reported to TASS that the Investigative Committee has established all the circumstances of the terrorist act committed on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022. The investigation of the criminal case is at the final stage, the accused and their defense attorneys are familiarizing themselves with its materials.
REFERENCE: On the morning of October 8, 2022, a truck was blown up on the Crimean Bridge, causing the tanks of a neighboring freight train to catch fire. Four people were killed, and two spans of the automobile part of the bridge leading towards the peninsula collapsed.
