One of the documents in the RGANI, the director of the archive said, is a decree of the State Defense Committee dated April 26, 1944 on the restoration of the main naval base of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, issued during the fighting in the Crimea. The resolution is set out on 15 pages “with strict deadlines on this issue.” General monitoring of the progress of construction and taking prompt action on all issues related to the restoration of the base was entrusted to the Deputy Chairman of the State Defense Committee, Lavrentiy Beria.
