Cancellations of tours to Crimea are possible. The authorities ask the tourist industry to “treat with understanding”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation recommends that tour operators and other participants in the tourism market not apply penalties when canceling tours to Crimea and Sevastopol.
We recommend that tour operators and other participants in the tourism market treat the situation with understanding and not apply penalties when canceling tours to Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea– it says in the message.
At the same time, a number of travel agencies independently decided to adhere to such a policy, noted the Association of Tour Operators of Russia. But there are nuances.
The decision to make a refund will be influenced by the decision of the hotels: until the hotels decide whether they will return money to tourists, it will be difficult for the tour operator to form a unified position regarding refunds– explained in ATOR.
According to tour operators, on the northern side of Sevastopol, near the site of the tragedy, there may currently be about 250 organized tourists. However, there were no requests for early return from vacationers in Crimea. One of the tour operators did not exclude the possibility that tourists could leave their vacation destination on their own without informing the company with which they booked their vacation.
As of Monday morning, Crimea’s transport system, road and rail communications are operating stably. Cars have accumulated at the entrance to the Crimean Bridge. There were about 150 vehicles in the queue from Taman in the morning. On the Kerch side there is no queue in front of the inspection point.
