Car arson… motivated by jealousy. A resident of the Moscow region was punished in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A resident of the Moscow region was convicted of setting fire to an expensive car in Crimea. Not only did the pyromaniac choose a car that was not cheap, costing several million, but there was also a considerable amount of money in the car (5 million). As a result, the man was convicted under Part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate destruction of someone else’s property, causing significant damage, committed by arson).
The court found that in April last year, out of jealousy, a man came to one of the boarding houses where his wife had previously vacationed. Seeing a Volkswagen car in the parking lot, the defendant doused it with a flammable liquid that was with him and set it on fire. As a result of the fire, an expensive car worth more than 4 million rubles and funds in the amount of 5 million rubles were destroyed. The man admitted guilt in the incriminated crime— reported the prosecutor’s office.
The court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year 6 months. According to the claim of the victim, damages in the amount of more than 9 million rubles were recovered from a resident of the Moscow region, as well as compensation for moral damage in the amount of 7 thousand rubles.
