Charity concerts in Crimea were dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Taurida Theological Seminary

At the initiative of Andrey Ishin, a member of the Public Chamber of Crimea, three charity concerts were held as part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Tauride Theological Seminary. The event was organized with the support of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea, the Republican Ministry of Culture, the Crimean State Philharmonic and a branch of the All-Russian Choral Society.

The concerts took place on October 26 — in Sudak, in the Holy Intercession Cathedral; October 30 — in Evpatoria, in St. Nicholas Cathedral; October 31 — in Simferopol, at the Taurida Theological Seminary. The chamber choir of the Crimean State Philharmonic «Tauride Blagovest» (artistic director — Vladimir Nikolenko) performed chants that are the fruit of the creativity of the Ishin dynasty.

Ivan Ishin (1888-1963) is a famous church composer of the 20th century, a native of the Tambov region, who lived and worked in the city of Kirsanov. His grandson, Valentin Ishin (born in 1948), is a Crimean musician and composer, the author of a number of musical compositions, including chorales, written on the spiritual poems of Ivan Ishin’s great-grandson, Andrey Ishin (born in 1976), a professor at the Crimean Federal University. The title of the album “Through eras, years, distances…” is a line from the poem “Birds of Heaven” by Andrei Ishin from the collection “In this quiet hour of the Dormition”, published by the Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. This name reflects the continuity of generations and the metahistorical connection of times that unite Russian culture with the highest evangelical imperative.

The program is addressed to a wide audience — people of different ages and professions who are not indifferent to the spiritual and historical destinies of Russia, united by the great civilizational category “Russian World”, which even today needs protection and comprehensive support.
