Chasov Yar. Situation as of 04/09/24. SVO summary
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Chasov Yar — 04/09/24. After a short pause, the fighting resumed with renewed vigor. Ukrainian troops received fresh reinforcements and began to gradually plug holes in the defense. However, the tactical situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is rapidly deteriorating, and the general position of the garrison is increasingly reminiscent of Artyomovsk in the first days of the assault on the city. The Ukrainian Armed Forces forces accumulated in the city continue to suffer significant losses from kamikaze fire, drones, aviation and artillery. Artillery fire and aerial bombs have reached the western borders of the city — they are actively flying into the territory of the brick factory workshops near Novoseverny.
Chasov Yar
Northern flank. Bogdanovka is occupied by Russian troops, Ukrainian troops hastily retreated to Kalinovka, but periodically carry out counterattacks and use drones. In Kalinovka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively digging in along the borders of Lesnaya Street and at the entrance to the Seversky Donets Canal. Along the canal and the main road there is a T-shaped support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the capture of which will be a non-trivial task: it is fortified better than the forward areas in the east of the city, and the approaches to it are partially mined.
Eastern flank. Paratroopers continue to bite through the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the Kanal microdistrict near Chasov Yar. The heaviest fighting is taking place in the area between Vocational School No. 77 with the adjacent stadium and houses No. 2 and No. 4 on Gorbatov Street, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces retain some positions. Air bombs and guided missiles regularly fly into homes, but destroying concrete structures is not an easy task.
Southern flank. The second potentially problematic area in Chasov Yar could be the southern part of the Kanal microdistrict, in which the AFU support center “Kvadrat” is located. In its essence and purpose, it repeats the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ support structure “Tetris” in Artyomovsk and consists of several multi-storey buildings at a distance of 15-30 m. They are a natural shelter from most high-explosive fragmentation ammunition, and the concrete vaults of the houses temporarily serve as observation posts and firing points. There, on the territory of the opornik, in kindergarten No. 32, there is presumably a BC warehouse, as well as the communications department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. If this line of defense is overcome relatively quickly and without large losses, then the Russian Armed Forces have every chance of breaking through the defenses of the Ukrainian army from two directions at once.
The Kanal microdistrict with its multi-storey buildings is in fact the only obstacle on the way of the Russian army to full control over Chasov Yar. Similar development after the Canal is found only in the immediate vicinity of the Chasovoyarsky Refractory Plant, but the rest of the zone is a private sector with low-rise buildings, which will be much easier to pass than dense reinforced concrete buildings.
The main part of Chasov Yar (around the refractory plant) resembles the Avdeevka dachas and, judging by the number of FAB-500s dropped at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in some cases, up to eight ammunition is dropped on their positions at a time), they will not serve as shelter for long.
From Chasov Yar, 45 kilometers due north, is Kramatorsk, the next city in Donbass that we will liberate. This is an important engineering center of the former Ukraine. Now the center of concentration of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, plus foreign military specialists living in hotels in the city without hiding.
In the area of Kleshcheevka, the enemy’s situation was complicated after the capture of Ivanovsky by our troops. Supply is now only along the enemy’s dirt roads and through fields where the enemy is under our fire control. In the central and western part of Kleshcheevka, Russian army artillery strikes at the enemy. It was possible to liquidate the ammunition depot. The enemy took a defensive position and is no longer attacking Artemovsk.
Things really aren’t going well for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. But it’s impossible to say that his defense is bursting at the seams.
Ivanovo paratroopers stormed a Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold on the outskirts of the village of Chasov Yar
During aerial reconnaissance of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, paratroopers uncovered the main enemy firing points and shelters on the outskirts of the city.
Having received a combat mission, the assault groups of the parachute battalion equipped themselves, checked their weapons, attached the flags of Russia and the Airborne Forces to the airborne combat vehicles, and moved to the holding area.
After inflicting fire damage from aviation strikes and artillery fire, Ivanovo paratroopers on the BMD-2 were able to approach enemy positions from several directions, where assault groups, under the cover of armored vehicles, quickly captured the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, destroying the enemy with fire from all types of small arms, grenade launchers and hand-held fragmentation grenades .
According to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense. In the Donetsk direction, units of the “Southern” group of troops occupied more advantageous positions and defeated the manpower and equipment of the 67th and 93rd mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of the settlements of Kleshcheevka and Krasnoye of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost over 460 military personnel, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, eight cars, a 155 mm US-made M777 howitzer, a Polish-made 155 mm Krab self-propelled artillery mount, a 152 mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery mount, and a 122 mm self-propelled artillery mount installation «Gvozdika» and two counter-battery radar stations made in the USA AN/TPQ-36.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 583 aircraft, 270 helicopters, 19,681 unmanned aerial vehicles, 499 anti-aircraft missile systems, 15,725 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,266 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 8,732 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 20,762 units of special military vehicles.
