Chekhov's birthday will be celebrated in Yalta. Program of events

Events dedicated to the 164th anniversary of the birth of the writer Anton Chekhov and the 120th anniversary of the premiere of the play “The Cherry Orchard” started in Yalta. Those interested can watch a film about the history of the creation of the famous play, attend the author’s excursions and opening days. Events poster — in the material Tourist portal of Crimea.
As reported in the Crimean Literary and Art Museum-Reserve, as part of the celebration of the writer’s birthday, every day until January 31 at the Yalta Chekhov Theater (Ekaterininskaya St., 13), visitors can watch a short film dedicated to the history of the creation of the play “The Cherry Orchard,” as well as take a memorable photo in the interior of a themed photo zone. Those who love interactivity will be invited to collect cubes depicting the White Dacha and refresh their memory of quotes from the famous play.
From January 26 to January 31, at the Chekhov Memorial House-Museum in Yalta (Kirova St., 112) there will be a vernissage of drawings from students of the Yalta Children’s Art School named after. Vasiliev “Happy Birthday, Anton Pavlovich!” The guys depicted in their works characters from Chekhov’s stories: “Kashtanka”, “Man in a Case”, “Fat and Thin”, “Angry Boy” and, of course, “The Lady with the Dog”.
On January 27 and 28 at 14:30 at the Belaya Dacha they will organize author’s excursions around the thematic exhibition “There is no better place on earth than our garden”, where guests will be introduced not only to the history of the creation of the play “The Cherry Orchard”, on which the classic worked in Yalta , but they will also talk about the features of the first production on the theater stage of the Moscow Art Theater.
On January 31 at 14:30, a new exhibition project “Chekhov in our days” will be presented on the veranda-gallery of the house-museum.
On the writer’s birthday, January 29, at 9:00 there will be a traditional ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the playwright in Primorsky Park and the bust of the writer in the Chekhov House-Museum in Yalta.
Events are also planned at the dacha of Anton Chekhov and Olga Knipper in Gurzuf (22 Chekhov St.). From January 26 to 31, a vernissage of children’s drawings “A. P. Chekhov and Gurzuf”, and on January 31 at 12:00 visitors will be able to listen to the lecture “Chekhov’s Places of Crimea”. Also, a thematic lecture will take place on January 28 at 16:00 in the “Chekhov and Crimea” department at the Omyur dacha (Kirova St., 32), where Anton Pavlovich lived before the construction of his own house.
