Participants of the «Ticket to the Future» project were able to get acquainted with the rare and unusual professions of an archaeologist, restorer and guide today at the cultural institution. Tauric Chersonesos is the only museum in Sevastopol and in the Crimea, which for the second year in a row accepts schoolchildren of the 6th 11 grades who want to gain theoretical and practical knowledge and find their own career path.
According to the head of the excursion department of the museum-reserve N. O. Goncharova, “Sevastopol is a city of monuments and museums. Professions such as archaeologist, restorer and tour guide are important and necessary for its development.” Tauric Chersonesos is the only museum in the hero city that takes part in the implementation of the «Ticket to the Future» project and provides schoolchildren with the opportunity to try themselves in three relevant and unusual professions.
In 11 the first to get acquainted with the work of archaeologists, restorers and guides in a cultural institution were students of the 9th grade of gymnasium No. 24. First, the schoolchildren were told about the key events in the history of Chersonese and the main stages of its development. Then the children applied their knowledge in practice and took part in impromptu excavations, where they found “artifacts”, drew them and described them.
Under the guidance of an experienced artist-restorer of the museum-reserve, ninth-graders began work on the restoration of ceramic products. The children were especially interested in various techniques that allow them to assemble an artifact from the smallest fragments and save it for future generations. In the final part of the career guidance session, the students learned about the sights of Chersonesos and made up their first excursion story, using the methods of historical information, questions and answers, and others.
Today, many young visitors to the museum-reserve are interested in the proposed professions and think about choosing a career. As part of the “Ticket to the Future” project, three more classes for young Sevastopol residents will be held this week in Tauric Chersonese, and perhaps one of them will be inspired and decide here work. We hope that specialists who have chosen their professional path and received a “ticket to the future” will come to the museum-reserve today.
We remind you that the career guidance project «Ticket to the Future» is intended for students of 6-11 grades. It is carried out with the support of the state within the framework of the national project «Education». It was created on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin with the participation of the My History Foundation for the Support of the Humanities. The operator in Sevastopol since 11 has been the Regional Model Center for Additional Education for Children.
