Christmas readings started in Sevastopol

From 5 to 16 December, regional events are held in Sevastopol as part of the XXXI International Christmas Educational Readings. This year’s theme is «Global Challenges of Modernity and Human Spiritual Choice». Sevastopol parliamentarians, students, schoolchildren, teachers of secondary and higher schools will take part in the readings.
This year the tradition of holding Christmas readings continues, and Sevastopol invariably takes part in this large-scale event. As part of the readings, a conference on social service issues, workshops, round tables, the final of the regional family competition of theatrical miniatures «Christmas Star», an exhibition dedicated to St. Clement of Rome, and other educational events will be held. Before the start of the readings in St. Vladimir’s Cathedral — the tomb of the admirals, a prayer service was performed for the forum participants. It was also visited by representatives of the Department of Education and Science, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Sevastopol Marina Peschanskaya, director of the branch of Moscow State University in Sevastopol Olga Shpyrko, rector of SevGU Vladimir Nechaev, director of the Balaklava House of Children and Youth Creativity Nadezhda Protasova, students, schoolchildren and their parents.
At the end of the prayer service, the winners of the International Children’s Art Competition «The Beauty of God’s World» were awarded diplomas for the second and third places. The competition was held in the city with the blessing of the Ruling Bishop of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese, Metropolitan Lazar. The winners received memorable gifts from the Sevastopol Deanery. The awards for the first place will be awarded on 16 December, on the closing day of the regional educational readings.
