Church works of art are created at Meganom Academy
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On February 19, the next module of the educational program “Church Art: Creating the Interior Decoration of a Church-Chapel” was launched at the Academy of Creative Industries “Meganom” (project “Tavrida.ART” from Rosmolodezh). The new stream is timed to coincide with an important event — on February 20, the foundation stone ceremony for the temple will take place, for which the program participants are creating a decoration project.
In Crimea, at the foot of Mount Meganom, a church-chapel in the name of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious. The investment project is being implemented by philanthropist and temple builder Alexei Kakhidze with the support of Tavrida and the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. This construction is the first experience of the Tavrida art cluster in creating religious buildings.
The project represents an innovative vision of the canonical temple — the structure in the form of a ship is laconically integrated into the surrounding landscape of the Black Sea coast.
The modern view of temple construction will be supported in the interior decoration. For this purpose, young artists, icon painters, and monumentalists from different regions of Russia were involved in the creation of the project. As part of the educational program at the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries, they are working on painting, mosaic and stained glass projects, which will then be transferred to the walls of the temple-chapel. The work is carried out under the mentorship of experienced experts — famous artists and icon painters.
Each new module is a new team of participants, which picks up the work of previous teams.
During the three months of the educational program, the participants developed We took a 3D model of the temple and created its layout with paintings on the interior walls, mosaics of the baptistery and a white stone iconostasis. The sketches depict scenes from the life of St. George the Victorious, the patron saint of the future chapel-temple. Artists of the new stream will begin working on stained glass windows and create sketches for painting the baptismal part of the temple, — said Maria-Nicole Selivanova, curator of the program, head of the Tavrida art park, artist-restorer of easel and monumental painting.
On February 19, a new stream of the educational program began at Meganom Academy. 19 participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaluga, Rostov, Ivanovo and Moscow regions are taking up the baton from their colleagues.
The new arrival is timed to coincide with an important event — on February 20, the foundation stone of the temple and the consecration of the construction site are planned.
