Cleaning of the Danilovsky Pond began in Simferopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Utility workers have begun work on cleaning the Danilovsky pond in Simferopol. This was announced by the head of the administration of the Crimean capital, Mikhail Afanasyev. According to him, special equipment is involved.
The work is carried out using specialized equipment from the Leninsky branch of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Krymmeliovodkhoz», which cleans the reservoir of weeds. The pond will be cleared of mud, reeds and other vegetation. I personally control this process“,” Afanasyev noted, illustrating the message about the start of work with a photo.
Danilovsky Pond is located at the intersection of st. Danilov and Sevastopol. The Slavyanka River originates here and flows through the territory of Simferopol. The source of the river is the Bor-Chokrak spring. The German scientist and traveler Peter Pallas mentions a water supply system that existed from a source since Khan’s times, carried out by underground pipes, renewed in 1795 and soon destroyed again and calls the river a small swampy stream. There is a pond where the waters come to the surface. Old-timers say that back in the 80s of the last century they were saying that in the 80s. Swans swam here, and the area around the pond was a favorite vacation spot for Simferopol residents. Gradually everything fell into disrepair. The city authorities planned to clean the pond back in 2020, then they postponed the deadline — either there was not enough money in the budget of Simferopol, or it was not all on time.
