Competition «History of my city»: schoolchildren of Sevastopol presented 44 game projects

10 October in «IT-cube. Gagarin” the results were summed up and the winners of the Regional Competition of Game Projects “The History of My City” were awarded. The competition was organized by the Center for the Development of Digital Competences together with the Presidential Grants Foundation.

For the first time, more than 19 schoolchildren, together with teachers, studied the history of Sevastopol in order to create their own game and compete for prizes. 44 teams reached the final. They presented their game projects about the hero city, collected on the basis of virtual tours of the PanoQUIZ platform. More than 300 panoramas were available for the participants — the most interesting places and sights of Sevastopol. Supervised the work and helped teams 10 of teachers-mentors.

The award ceremony was attended by guests of honor — a member of the Public Chamber of the city of Sevastopol Alexander Marchuk, President of the public organization «Historical Club» Tauric Sevastopol «Vadim Prokopenkov, Chairman of the Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society Nikolai Pomogalov, Commercial Director of the Sevastopol Military History Club (Park of Living History «Fedyukhin Heights») Andrey Biati.

The winners of the competition of game projects were:

• I place — the team «Pistol Kazarsky» (gymnasium No. 8 named after N.T. Khrustalev)
• II place — Pallada team (gymnasium No. 8 named after N.T. Khrustalev)
• III place — the team «Sevastopol local historians» (school No. 36 with in-depth study of the English language named after the Hero of the Soviet Union P.P. Pavlov)

In the nomination «For the first time in English» the team «CrimeaVR» won (secondary school No. 12).

Schoolchildren and mentors received diplomas, virtual reality glasses and gifts from partners.

In the nomination «People’s Choice Award» the best became 10 teams whose projects got the most views. Their participants and mentors received VR Google Cardboard glasses from the Boxglass company, tickets to visit the Fedyukhina Heights Living History Park and the museum on the territory of the Lukomorye Children’s Ecopark.
