Construction of the Yuzhnye treatment facilities continues in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Yuzhnye sewage treatment plant will provide complete treatment of Sevastopol wastewater. Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive conclusion on the construction of the facility after changes were made to the design documentation.
Adjustment of the project was required due to the active growth of the region’s population. The customer and the designer reviewed the technical solutions of the WWTP. According to the chief expert of the project, Svetlana Tsareva, the project documentation takes into account the future development of the city and the increasing loads on the wastewater system and biological treatment facilities.
When choosing a biological treatment scheme, the long-overdue need to introduce technology for removing nutrients from wastewater was taken into account. The productivity of the Yuzhnye structures for the estimated development period of the wastewater disposal system until 2035 will be 130 thousand m3/day. Also at the wastewater treatment plant site there is the possibility of placing an additional complete biological treatment unit with a capacity of 30 thousand m³ per day, – notes a representative of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
WWTP «Yuzhnye» will receive domestic and related wastewater from subscribers of the Balaklava, Gagarinsky, Leninsky, Nakhimovsky districts of Sevastopol, as well as the city of Balaklava and rural settlements of the Balaklava region.
Previously, the project included the construction of treatment facilities at two sites – the Yuzhnye WWTP and the Balaklava WWTP. However, later the second object was excluded from the documentation, and the productivity of the first was increased. In addition, the basic technological scheme for supplying household and related wastewater to the complex of treatment facilities and the technological scheme for their treatment have been radically changed.
The wastewater treatment technology will consist of sequential mechanical and biological treatment, as well as post-treatment and UV disinfection, followed by disposal through a waste collector and deep-water outlet to the discharge point — the Black Sea, – says Svetlana Tsareva.
The length of the deep-sea outlet will be 1778.7 meters. The waste collector and deep-water outlet are designed to handle an increased flow of treated wastewater — 160 thousand m³/day.
To process and dispose of sludge formed during wastewater treatment, workshops for mechanical sludge dewatering, drying and thermal recycling of sludge will be built here. A drainage station has also been designed to receive domestic wastewater from unsewered areas. The chief expert of the project noted that the technological process of wastewater treatment and sludge treatment was adopted taking into account the best available technologies.
The developer is the State Treasury Institution of the City of Sevastopol “Unified Directorate of Capital Construction”.
The general designer is Regional Construction Company LLC.
