April 12 is Russian Cosmonautics Day. Today in Simferopol, on the Alley of Cosmonauts, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monuments to Sergei Pavlovich Korolev and Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin took place.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Committee on Construction, Transport and Fuel and Energy Complex Valery Aksenov, Deputy Chairman of the Simferopol City Council Nadezhda Aksenova, employees of specialized structural units of the capital administration, deputies of the Simferopol City Council, students of Simferopol schools, guests and residents Crimean capital.

At the solemn meeting, Valery Aksenov’s welcoming words were heard:

Today we celebrate Cosmonautics Day, the day of the triumph of science and all those who work in the space industry, a memorable date that marked the beginning of space exploration, and we are proud that Russia occupies a leading position in modern cosmonautics! The history of Crimea is integrally connected with the history of domestic cosmonautics. Here, on our peninsula, many Soviet cosmonauts underwent training, including the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Happy Cosmonautics Day to Simferopol residents, city guests and all Crimeans!
