The prosecutor’s office of the Central District of Simferopol approved an indictment in a criminal case against a 19-year-old resident of the Dzhankoy district. The young Crimean is accused under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 3 art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud).

According to the preliminary investigation authorities, the accused served as a courier in a group of telephone scammers who called residents of the region and informed them that their relatives or friends were responsible for road accidents.

In November 2023, the group members informed the victim that he had to give 800 thousand rubles to compensate for the damage caused to the victims in an accident, the culprit of which was allegedly his granddaughter. When meeting with the victim to receive money, the accused was detained by internal affairs officers,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.

With the approved indictment, the criminal case was sent to the Central District Court of Simferopol for consideration on the merits.
