Creative teams visiting Tauric Chersonesos

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The city of two millennia was visited by artists from the Donetsk People’s Republic and the staff of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Central Concert Exemplary Orchestra of the Navy. Artists of the Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theater named after M. M. Brovun and the Donetsk Republican Academic Puppet Theater arrived in Sevastopol with the support of the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation (STD RF) and decided to start exploring the city with one of its main attractions — Tauric Chersonese.

The guides told about the creation of the Greek policy, introduced the guests to the fortifications, political structure, military affairs, culture and traditions of the ancient city. During the tour, they also saw a model of the Oath of the citizens of Chersonesus, which was once taken by young ephebes upon reaching adulthood. On the main square (agora), visitors were told in detail about how in 988 an important historical event took place in the ancient city — the baptism of Prince Vladimir, which had a huge impact on the development of our state. The tour ended on the picturesque coast of Tauric Chersonese— noted in the press service of the museum-reserve «Tauric Chersonesos».

The guests of Chersonesos got acquainted with the history of the ancient city and received vivid impressions. Head of the Central Concert Exemplary Orchestra of the Navy named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Captain 2nd Rank Valentin Lyashchenko said that “today we attended the excursion with great pleasure, we enjoyed it immensely, we learned a lot of new things. We are very grateful to the staff of Tauric Chersonesus, who carefully and lovingly preserve the history that is being rediscovered for us after thousands of years. We, as musicians, also preserve history by performing melodies that have witnessed many events of the past, we understand how important it is to preserve our history.”
