CrimeaPRESS reports:
Cremation of the deceased is becoming increasingly popular in many countries, especially in large cities. This is due to a number of factors:
- First, cremation is often seen as a more environmentally friendly burial alternative, especially when cemetery land availability is limited. Cremation does not require large tracts of land and can also reduce the use of resources such as wood for making coffins.
- Secondly, for many people, cremation provides a more flexible and personalized option for caring for the body of the deceased. After cremation, relatives can choose what to do with the ashes — scatter them in nature, place them in an urn, or even create a memorial in their home.
The entire procedure takes from one and a half to two hours. It takes place without the presence of the relatives of the deceased person. After completion, the ashes are removed from the chamber, placed in a container with a tight lid, an appropriate inscription is placed on it and then given to the recipient, — experts explain pdbg.ru.
It is also worth noting that some religious and cultural traditions that previously prohibited cremation may become less strict or change due to modern ideas.
However, despite its current demand, cremation is not a choice for everyone, and many prefer traditional burial for various reasons, including religious beliefs or family preference.
Cremation process — how?
The cremation process involves the carefully controlled burning of the deceased’s body at very high temperatures, usually around 1400-1800 degrees Celsius. This process takes place in a special structure called a crematorium.
The main stages of the cremation process:
- Preparation: The body of the deceased is placed in a special container called a coffin, which is then placed in a crematorium. The coffin usually contains identifying information about the deceased.
- burning: The coffin with the body is exposed to high temperatures in the crematorium. During this process, the soft tissues of the body are burned away, but the bones remain.
- cooling: After combustion, the residues are cooled. The bones left over from the cremation process are ground into a fine powder, commonly referred to as “ashes.”
- collection of ashes: The ashes are collected and placed in an urn or other container chosen by the family of the deceased.
- return: The urn containing the ashes can be returned to relatives for placement in the home, burial in a cemetery or scattering in nature according to the wishes of the deceased or his family.
Depending on the region and cultural traditions, the cremation process may vary slightly, but in general it is carried out according to strict standards and regulations to ensure the safety and respect of the deceased.
Bury, store at home or…
According to Russian law, an urn with ashes after cremation should be buried in a cemetery or other place intended for burying the remains of the deceased.
However, there are some exceptions when an urn with ashes can be placed in the house of relatives of the deceased, if this is provided for by special permission or agreement with local authorities. For example, some religious communities or cultural traditions may provide for this possibility.
Who does cremation?
In most cases, cremation is carried out in specialized institutions called crematoria. Crematoria are equipped to carry out the cremation process in compliance with all relevant standards of safety and respect for the deceased.
To arrange cremation, usually relatives or authorized persons must contact a local funeral director or the crematorium directly. Funeral homes often provide cremation services along with other aspects of the funeral service, such as the farewell ceremony, transportation of the body, and memorial arrangements.
When contacting a crematorium or funeral home, relatives are usually helped with choosing cremation options, completing the necessary paperwork, and carrying out the process itself.
It is important to make sure that the facility you choose has all the necessary licenses and certificates to perform cremation, and also ask about the procedures and services they provide to be sure of the professionalism and quality of service.
