Crimea: a cycle of publications «Victory in the Persons» — veteran of the Great Patriotic War Ekaterina Khomenko

Ekaterina Vasilievna was born in 1922 in the Omsk region in a simple working family. When the war began, she studied in the second year of the agricultural institute.

Catherine went to the front in 1942 and became a communication duty officer. She fought as part of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, took part in the liberation of Ukraine. In September 1945, she demobilized with the rank of sergeant. Among its awards are the Order of the Patriotic War of the II degree, medals “For Military Merit” and “For the Victory of Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945”.

After the war, Ekaterina Vasilievna studied at the Crimean State Pedagogical Institute named after M.V. Frunze. Then she worked as a teacher of mathematics and physics, and then — the director of the school. Her total pedagogical experience was 57 years.

Sergei Aksyonov noted that Ekaterina Khomenko was a deputy of the four convocations of the Dzhankoy City Council.

The veteran always actively participated in public life, is an honorary member of the Dzhankoy city organization of the Russian community of Crimea. Ekaterina Vasilievna — Dzhankoy’s pride, pride in our Crimea— concluded the head of the republic.
