April 26 in the park named after. Yuri Gagarin in the Crimean capital, a funeral meeting-requiem and laying of flowers at the Memorial to the Victims of the Chernobyl Disaster took place.
According to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, Efim Fiks, the events of 38 years ago once again remind us of what recklessness can lead to.
The disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which befell the inhabitants of the former Soviet Union and, above all, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, claimed the lives of a huge number of people and left a difficult legacy. It would seem that the tragedy that occurred more than three decades ago should have made everyone think about the consequences, but today, when a special military operation is underway, the country that suffered the most from the accident is launching missiles at nuclear power plants, risking creating a new tragedy. I hope that the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine will forever eliminate those who give commands to launch missiles towards nuclear reactorssaid Efim Fix.
The event was attended by veteran liquidators, representatives of the city council and administration of Simferopol, the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Republic of Crimea, the Crimean Republican Public Organization of Disabled Persons “Chernobyl Union”, residents and guests of the Crimean capital.
The dean of the Simferopol city deanery, Archpriest Ioan Shiman, held a funeral litany for the souls of the deceased victims of the Chernobyl disaster.
To the sounds of a brass band, those present laid flowers at the Memorial.
In conclusion, the memory of the heroes of Chernobyl and the victims of the Chernobyl tragedy was honored with a minute of silence.
