Crimea is among the top popular destinations where the most delicious cheeses are made
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Cheesemaker’s Day is celebrated on June 18. Many of us love cheese and know how different it is, depending on the place where it is made, on how exactly it was made. Many of us love cheese and know exactly where the best cheeses are made.
The Russian vacation rental booking service TVIL.RU conducted a survey on social networks on the topic: where exactly did they try the most delicious cheeses? And this is what they answered.
1. Kostroma was in first place, chosen by 30% of voters. This city has long been the Russian capital of cheese. The local durum variety resembles Gouda. Kostroma cheese received prizes at the World Exhibition in London back in 1880.
2. In second place is Adygea, the choice of 20% of subscribers. Many of us love soft Adyghe cheese with a mild taste, which is made exclusively from cow’s milk.
3. In third place is the Krasnodar Territory, whose cheese was liked by 12% of voting participants. Today Kuban is one of the largest cheese producers in Russia and more than 40 thousand tons of cheeses from goat and cow milk are produced here every year.
4. In fourth place is the Kaliningrad region, whose cheeses were liked by 10% of voting participants. Soft, semi-hard, hard, pickled and processed cheeses are made here. Three types of cheese made in Neman received “gold” and the Grand Prix at the All-Russian competition “Cheese Expo 2024”.
5. Cheeses of Crimea collected 9% of the votes. A wide variety of cheeses are produced in Crimea — hard and semi-hard, soft and pickled, sheep, goat and cow, with Crimean herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, truffles, olives.
6. 7% of voting participants voted for the cheeses of Bashkiria. Hard and semi-hard cheeses are produced here, which have long gained the interest of amateurs.
7. Cheeses of North Ossetia were chosen by 5% of subscribers. Back in the 19th century, it was believed that Ossetian cheese was one of the best varieties of cheese prepared in the Caucasus. Its high calorie content and excellent taste are explained by the favorable natural conditions in which Ossetian sheep live.
8. The city of Uglich and its cheeses — the choice of 4% of all voters. Not only the famous “Uglich” cheese is made here, but also “Yaroslavsky” and “Poshekhonsky” cheese. And also — “Russian” according to the old GOST.
9. Altai cheeses were chosen by 2% of subscribers. More than 300 types of cheeses are made here: large hard, semi-hard, delicacy, processed and smoked.
10. Kislovodsk and its cheeses were chosen by 1% of subscribers. They sell wonderful and fresh cheese here: Chanakh, Suluguni, Chechil, feta cheese.
