Crimea Police warns: how scammers are deceiving buyers through the Internet sites
Krympress reports:
The purchase of goods online can be convenient and profitable, but requires increased attention and compliance with digital hygiene rules. Together with convenience, there are risks of becoming a victim of scammers.
The Crimea Ministry of Internal Affairs warns! Do not neglect precautions !!!
So, the day before, a resident of the city of Feodosia tried to purchase an inflatable boat through a popular announcement website. He found a suitable proposal, placed an order and received a link to track delivery.
However, by clicking on this link and filling out the form with personal data and details of the bank card, the man became a victim of fraud. As a result, more than 90,000 rubles were written off from his accounts. The funds were transferred to unknown accounts of attackers.
Later it turned out that the link provided to the buyer was fake. Instead of this delivery site, the criminals created an exact copy of the page designed exclusively for the theft of personal data of users. Such phishing attacks become common and dangerous.
The Crimean police recall that it is important to observe the following safety rules: it is important to protect themselves from such situations:
1. Always check the site address. Make sure you are on the official resource of the seller or delivery service. Pay attention to the presence of a secure connection (the address begins with https: //).
2. Use two -factor authentication to enter services and bank applications. This will greatly complicate the task of attackers.
3. Never enter the data of your bank card on third -party sites, especially if they were sent to you in the form of links in messages or letters.
4. Install antivirus software and regularly update its databases. Modern antiviruses are able to recognize suspicious resources and warn you about risks.
5. Connect SMS notifications to your bank account. Thus, you will immediately receive a message about an attempt to unauthorized access or transaction.
6. Limit access to your personal data. Use complex passwords and avoid repeating the same login/password on different services.
7. Always check reviews about the seller before buying, paying special attention to negative comments.
Following the simple recommendations set out above, you can protect yourself and your finances from the actions of scammers. Remember, the safety of your funds depends primarily on your vigilance and awareness.
