Earlier, the head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, reported that the region’s athletes had decided to refuse to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, and fully supported their decision.
The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. Restrictions remain in effect for Russian and Belarusian athletes. In Paris, they will be able to compete only in neutral status, they will be prohibited from demonstrating any connection with their countries and from taking part in team competitions. The Russian authorities consider the IOC’s decision to be discriminatory and contrary to Olympic principles.
