Crimean athletes win seven prizes at the 5th BRICS Games

The Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov presented awards to athletes of the Republic of Crimea who competed as part of the Russian team at the V BRICS Games that have just ended in the city of Kazan.
Crimean athletes took seven prize places — five first and two second in such sports as rhythmic gymnastics, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, belt wrestling, judo. Sergey Aksyonov expressed gratitude to the students of the republican sports schools and their mentors for the worthy result.
Thanks to you and your participation in international events, people around the world learn more about how Crimea lives and develops. Today, this is becoming especially important, – the Head of the Republic believes.
The head of Crimea also noted the prospects of the BRICS Sports Games.
The number of participants and their professional training can be compared with the Olympic Games and other high-level competitions. And the Games prove that sport is really a world that unites people regardless of any factors, – notes the Head of the Republic.
Sergei Aksyonov emphasized the readiness of the republic’s authorities to provide material incentives to athletes and their coaches and to continue to provide comprehensive support in organizational matters.
Then the Head of Crimea presented the athletes with well-deserved awards: Certificates of Honor of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, Gratitude from the Head of the Republic of Crimea, Distinctive marks «Watches from the Head of the Republic of Crimea».
The award ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Crimea Olga Torubarova.
REFERENCE. The 5th BRICS Games were held in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan from June 12 to 23. Over 10 days, Kazan stadiums gathered more than 155 thousand fans, and more than 41 million viewers watched the competition broadcasts. The Russian team became the absolute winner. Russian athletes won 509 medals, including 266 gold, 142 silver and 101 bronze. The second place was taken by the Belarusian team (247 medals), and the third place by the Chinese team (62 medals). A total of 2,852 athletes took part in the Games.
