Crimean Children's Hospice teaches parents how to care for seriously ill children

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Crimean Children’s Hospice held a press conference «Learning to live: caring for seriously ill children.» As part of the PROparents project, which is implemented by a charitable organization, families with terminally ill children receive advice from leading palliative care professionals. The press conference was attended by Rustam Mikhaylov, a doctor, specialist in the health of the digestive system, a member of the Expert Council of the Children’s Palliative Charitable Foundation, a palliative care doctor, head physician of the Elizabethan Children’s Hospice, Irina Ershova, and Elena Babakova, coordinator of the PROparents project of the Crimean Children’s Hospice. The project «Proparents» of the Crimean Children’s Hospice, experts say, helps parents get answers to questions that concern them.

Education, information is the most important thing in our work. I always tell parents: do not be afraid to ask — we have accumulated a lot of practical experience, which we are always happy to share— says Rustam Mikhailov.

The team of the Crimean Children’s Hospice attracted leading specialists to the «PROparents» project who help families with seriously ill children.

Parents are part of the palliative team. An educational information project for them is an important support that gives them self-confidence.— emphasizes Irina Ershova.

The project of the Crimean children’s hospice «PROparents» is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. For four months, 96 parents from all over the country became its participants.

We always welcome feedback and suggestions from parents on what else can be done to help them care for their children. We are for openness, communication and comprehensive assistance to seriously ill children— Elena Babakova notes.
