Crimean citizen will answer for a “drunk” accident in which pedestrians were injured

The Sovetsky District Prosecutor’s Office approved a criminal indictment against a 51-year-old local resident. The Crimean citizen is accused under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting through negligence in causing grievous harm to human health, committed by a person in a state of intoxication), Part 1 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a person in a state of intoxication, previously brought to administrative responsibility for a similar act).

According to investigators, at the end of April this year, a man, being in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication, was driving a VAZ-2106 car along the highway in the village. Markovo, drove off the roadway, where he hit two pedestrians. As a result of a traffic accident, one of the victims was seriously injured— reported the prosecutor’s office.

It is clarified that the accused repeatedly got behind the wheel of a car while drunk in the summer of 2023. With the approved indictment, the criminal case was sent to the Sovetsky District Court for consideration on the merits. The perpetrator faces imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
