Crimean cycle of publications «Victory in the Persons»: Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Ivan Chekhovsky

Ivan Efimovich was born in 1926. In the first year of the war, the Germans entered the city of Priluki, in which he lived with his mother and younger sister.
After the liberation of the Chernihiv region, Ivan Efimovich was drafted into the Red Army. He fought in Western Ukraine, passed with the battles Poland and Germany. In early May 1945, leaving the regiment from the encirclement, he was seriously injured. The family received a funeral and considered it to be dead.
After recovery, Ivan Efimovich continued to serve the Fatherland. Until 1956, he purified the territory of Western Ukraine from Bandera gangs. It was awarded high awards, including the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War of the II degree, the medals «For Courage» and «For Military Merit», as well as the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
Having went into the reserve, Ivan Efimovich got a job as a cutter at a machine -building enterprise in Lviv and worked there for 40 years, having traveled from a simple worker to the head of the workshop and deputy director. His plant produced products for the space industry, so the veteran was familiar with many astronauts, including the legendary German Titov.
Sergei Aksyonov noted that today Ivan Efimovich lives in Yevpatoria.
In 2024, the veteran was present at the Victory Parade in Moscow. His life, his courage, fidelity to duty and love for the Motherland are an example for all of us— emphasized the head of Crimea.
