Crimean doctors have mastered new operations for the Republic of Crimea related to the treatment of rare cardiovascular pathologies

Over the course of three days, hospital doctors, under the guidance of a federal colleague, successfully operated on six patients. Operations were performed to eliminate obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, as well as to correct aneurysms of the ascending aorta, aortic arch, and complex combined versions of these operations.

For the Republic of Crimea, these are unique operations; they were performed here for the first time. We have not previously performed operations for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is most often a congenital pathology, so surgeons’ patients become young people — from 30 to 50 years old (it is in this age range that indications for operations appear).

Previously, patients with this diagnosis were sent for treatment to federal centers.

In one month, we identified six patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. That is, this is a fairly rare pathology and such operations are not performed as often as, for example, coronary artery bypass surgery or valve replacement. But now we will be able to independently operate on patients with this disease, which means we will help more patients in the region, — emphasizes the chief Crimean cardiac surgeon.

I was pleasantly surprised by the work of the hospital’s cardiac surgery department. It is young, but has its own traditions. Over the past one and a half to two years, the doctors of the department have performed more than a thousand operations with very good results.
