Crimean farmers harvested about 270 tons of garden strawberries in the fields. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrey Savchuk. In total, agricultural enterprises of the republic collected more than 400 tons of berries in open and closed ground.
«Elsanta», «Honey» and «Alba». These varieties of the most popular berry in the world — garden strawberries are now being harvested by our farmers in the Crimean fields. In Crimea, about 100 hectares of area are occupied by berries. It is grown by both large and smaller farms. There are about 70 of them in total. Varieties, as a rule, are high-yielding, winter-hardy and drought-resistant. But in order to get a good harvest, in addition to choosing a variety, of course, you need the right care: timely transplanting, “smart” watering and fertilizing the soil. Professional farmers work for us in strawberry production. All cultivation processes are perfectly known. This year we expect a harvest not less than last year. Let me remind you that about 800 tons of garden strawberries were harvested in 2022— commented the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea.
Andrey Savchuk also noted that all grown Crimean products are sold both on the peninsula and on the mainland. The largest areas of berries in the Crimea are in the Bakhchisaray, Dzhankoy, Simferopol regions.
In Dzhankoy, for example, garden strawberries are grown by 15 agricultural enterprises. On one of them KFH Obizhenkov, today organized a press tour for the Crimean journalists. Here, on 0.8 hectares, «Murano», «Albion» and «Cabrilo» grow. The beds are both on the ground and on weight. A few years ago, the farmer received subsidies from the republican budget, for which he purchased a water purification system for drip irrigationadded the minister.
