Crimean farmers have begun harvesting nut crops
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In total, this year in Crimea it is planned to harvest nut crops from 446 hectares. These are walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts.
The area to be harvested this year is slightly larger than last year. Let me remind you that in 2022, about 1000 tons of nut crops were harvested in the gardens of agricultural producers: walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds. Now they have started to collect almonds. In one of the gardens of the SPOK «Crimea Garden» in the Chernomorsky region, Milas, Dessertny, Nikitsky and Primorsky are mechanically and manually collected from 11 hectares. In total, approximately 140 hectares of almonds will be harvested from the gardens of the agricultural cooperative this year. Young trees grow on 250 hectares, which will begin to bear fruit in a few years. In addition to almonds, hazelnuts, peaches, plums, cherries and apple trees are grown in SPOK. We also support horticultural enterprises that work in this direction. Such assistance allowed this agricultural consumer cooperative to establish young orchards, — the press service of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk quotes.
Andrey Savchuk also noted that 16 Crimean enterprises received more than 36 million rubles in this direction in 2023, as a result of which another 376 hectares of perennial nut orchards will appear in Crimea.
