Crimean farmers have completed harvesting apples. About 138 thousand tons collected
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Crimean farmers have completed harvesting apples. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk. According to district administrations, horticultural enterprises collected about 138 thousand tons, which is 9% more than last year.
The Crimean apple harvest covers an area of just over 4 thousand hectares. The traditional leaders in the collection of this fruit are the Bakhchisaray, Krasnogvardeisky, Nizhnegorsky and Simferopol regions. On the peninsula, several dozen enterprises operate in this direction, growing varieties beloved by Crimeans such as Gala, Golden Delicious, Eva, Jonagold, Pink Lady and many others. The taste of our apples has long been appreciated by both local residents and residents of the mainland. I would like to note that the products collected by farmers are sold throughout the republic, in our capital — Moscow, and in other regions of the country,” commented the head of the Crimean Ministry of Agriculture.
Andrey Savchuk also recalled that thanks to state support received by horticultural enterprises from 2014 to 2022, 7.9 thousand hectares of young intensive fruit orchards of apple, pear, peach, cherry and other crops were planted. The assistance is mainly aimed at expanding the area occupied by gardens. This directly allows you to increase the production of fruit and berry products. By the end of 2023, it is planned to plant more than 900 hectares of orchards in Crimea. Subsidies are also provided for the installation of trellises, anti-hail netting and the care of perennial plantings. This year, about 400 million rubles have been allocated for financial support of gardening.
This increase in the volume of planting gardens stimulates the development of another area – nursery farming. Our farmers have been successfully replacing imported seedlings with domestic ones for several years now. More than 30 agricultural enterprises grow planting material for fruit crops. This year, for example, they grew more than 3 million seedlings“, the minister added.
In Crimea, the total area of fruit plantings: pome, stone fruit, nut, subtropical, citrus crops, as well as berry fields is more than 15 thousand hectares, of which almost 11 thousand hectares bear fruit. The rest of the area can be harvested in a few years.
