Crimean farmers have finished harvesting rice
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Andrei Savchuk, announced that Crimean farmers have finished harvesting rice.
“White Gold” managed to preserve two enterprises in the Nizhnegorsky and Krasnoperekopsky districts on a little more than 340 hectares. After the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station there was no time to think. The farmers, representatives of the State Committee for Water Resources and employees of our ministry got their bearings with lightning speed and worked as a team. At Sturm Perekop LLC, for example, the head of the enterprise and the chairman of the State Water Resources Committee quickly developed an algorithm of actions in such non-standard, one might say critical, conditions. During the first 24 hours after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the rice paddies were “sealed”, the water was looped so that there were no leaks, retaining structures were installed on the discharge canals, and they were covered with soil. As a result, more than 220 hectares of rice were saved. Despite this difficult situation, the crop yield is high. On average, about 90 centners per hectare. Let me remind you that this year two enterprises harvested the varieties “Patriot”, “Khazar”, “Regul” and “Polevik”, which have proven themselves well in our Crimean conditions— quotes the press service of Andrei Savchuk.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea also noted that Sturm Perekop LLC is one of the flagships of Crimean field farming. He has been working in agriculture since 2000. In addition to rice, he grows grains, industrial and oilseeds.
In order to obtain good yields when growing crops, the enterprise uses a number of modern technologies; all agrotechnological work is carried out competently and on time. Now we are busy sowing winter crops. More than 400 hectares of rapeseed have already been sown for the 2024 harvest, and they are finishing sowing wheat and barley. Some of the fields are planned to be occupied by spring crops, flax and sunflower.notes Andrey Savchuk.
