Crimean farmers use drip and sprinkler irrigation to increase yields
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Alime Zaredinova, reported that drip and sprinkler irrigation helps Crimean farmers increase their harvests, assessing the results of irrigation in the Republic of Crimea.
This is certainly a breakthrough. Over the past 5 years, the largest areas of reclaimed land have been introduced in the Krasnogvardeisky, Dzhankoy, and Bakhchisarai districts. It is worth noting that this year, thanks to such irrigation, the vegetable yield will increase to 50-70%. The water use plan for 2024 provides for the irrigation of more than 20 thousand hectares of agricultural crops, including grain and leguminous crops, vegetables and melons, industrial, forage crops, as well as perennial plantings.— the press service quotes Alime Zaredinova.
According to the acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, the most important task for ensuring growth in agricultural production volumes is to increase the area of irrigated land.
This task is being solved, among other things, within the framework of the measures being implemented by the state program for the development of agriculture.
Land reclamation is a priority area in the Republic of Crimea, so it is actively supported by the state. Thus, for 2015-2023, the volume of state support in this area amounted to almost 1.7 billion rubles. These funds made it possible to put into operation about 20 thousand hectares of land. This year, state support is planned in the amount of 200 million rubles. To date, Crimea has achieved good results in expanding irrigated areas, but they need to be increased even more— the acting minister noted.
